    Don’t buy this yarn!, December 14, 2011

Today I purchased Bernat Alpaca Natural Blends yarn for a knitting project. After knitting up one ball and wasting an afternoon and evening of my time, I will return the remaining balls tomorrow as soon as the store opens. This yarn, when knitted, shed an enormous amount of alpaca fibers. These coarse white fibers, I have learned, are called the “guard hairs” and are always removed in the processing of fine alpaca yarns. Be assured that the alpaca in this Bernat product is of the lowest quality. When I read the reviews of fellow knitters who have knitting experience with alpaca yarns, I learned this product does not stand up to comparison in any way. Those who washed their finished garments in an attempt to stop the shedding were dismayed to discover that not only did the shedding continue as before, but the article smelled like wet cat forever after.

In short, my own clothing is covered in white fibers, and the garment I was knitting with the Bernat Alpaca Natural Blends looks like I spun the yarn from cat hair. I can think of no project suitable for this yarn, unless perhaps one were knitting a blanket for a cat’s bed. Don’t waste time or money on this yarn!

Amazingly soft yarn, November 17, 2009

I bought 2 skeins because I loved the softness and the color of this yarn (wheat). I went home and read all the awful reviews, that it sheds like crazy, and I was about to return them. I decided not to because I bought them on sale for $3 each and I just started knitting and what do I know about yarn. I thought I have to start somewhere so let’s try the least expensive before I try the pricier stuff. In my honest opinion it’s not bad at all. Shedding is minimal and I think the softness and the beautiful results of knitted cowl is worth the $3 I spent. I’ll try the pricier stuff later for now this will do!

    Don’t buy and don’t knit for your own…, November 5, 2012

I bought Bernat Alpaca (Natural blends) Lavender color.
When I checked it before buying, I felt soft. That’s why I bought the color for my sweater in knitting store. During knitting, a lot of fur was shedding and the fur’s texture was so rough. Anyway I finished knitting and tried to wear a sweater(knitting).

OMG! I couldn’t wear it. I felt so prickled that prick my skin with a needle.
I wasted my money and time.

DON’T BUY IT. YOU WILL REGRET IF YOU BUY. DON’T LISTEN TO OTHER GOOD REVIEWS.
