I always use Lily Sugar and Cream cotton yarn for making kitchen or bathroom towels/rugs, as it’s very durable, absorbent, and can hold up to multiple washings with minimal pilling. It doesn’t seem to shrink and that is a major plus as well. This bulk amount was a much better buy as making one dishcloth can use up one entire smaller ball, and I actually like my dishcloths to be larger than what one ball will make.

This yarn is quite stiff and I also use it to make amigurimi (little dolls/stuffed animals), since it holds its shape well. In my opinion, this would NOT be a good yarn for scarves, sweaters, beanies, or things that you would prefer to be very soft. The yarn is extremely dense and this makes for great dishcloths, but terrible scarves.

The only downside is that they do not make this yarn with organic cotton. As cotton is one of the crops that uses large amounts of pesticides, which has great environmental reprecussions, I would prefer to purchase organic cotton. Hopefully one day that will be an option.

I use this yarn for some things I make in my botique business. It’s a Great quality cotton yarn…I’ve run it through every test…and have used hundreds. I love to buy the cones as they are quite a money saver. I only wish I could find the cones in more colors! Great product, preshrunk, and rich colors that do not fade. I repeat…MORE COLORS ON THE CONES! Thank you for a superb product! Germaine

I’ve used other brands of cotton yarn, but none are a match for Lily. Sturdy, smooth, minimal shrinkage. And the colors hold up well, too — no fading or bleeding. It’s rare to ever find a knot. Lily is my first choice for home decor projects.
